We do not require you to create an account to use Ratepura. If you contact us via email or a contact form, we collect the information you provide (name, email address, message content) solely to respond to your inquiry.

Information Collected Automatically

When you visit Ratepura, we automatically collect certain technical information, including:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • Your general geographic location (country/province level — we do not collect street-level location data)
  • Browser type, operating system, and device type
  • Referring website (the site you came from before visiting Ratepura)
  • IP address (anonymized where technically possible)

This information is collected through Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and is used to understand how visitors use our site so we can improve our content and user experience.

Cookies

Ratepura uses cookies — small text files stored in your browser — for the following purposes:

  • Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4): Track aggregate site usage patterns. No personally identifiable information is linked to these cookies.
  • Affiliate tracking cookies (Fintel Connect): When you click an affiliate link on our site, Fintel Connect may set a cookie to attribute any resulting application or account opening to Ratepura. This is how our commission tracking works.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings.

  • To track affiliate commissions (for internal accounting purposes only — not shared with third parties beyond Fintel Connect)

We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We do not rent or share your email address with any marketing list.

Ratepura uses the following third-party services that may process data about your visit:

  • Fintel Connect — affiliate tracking. See Fintel Connect’s privacy policy on their website.

PIPEDA Compliance

Ratepura operates in compliance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Data Retention

Analytics data is retained in Google Analytics for 14 months by default. Contact form submissions are retained for up to 12 months, after which they are deleted. We do not retain payment information — Ratepura does not process payments.

Children’s Privacy

Ratepura is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted with an updated “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of Ratepura after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
