How Ratepura Earns Money
Ratepura is a free-to-use comparison website. To keep the lights on, we earn affiliate commissions when users click links on our pages and successfully apply for or sign up for a financial product. This is a common model used by comparison sites across Canada and around the world.
Our affiliate partner network is Fintel Connect, a Canadian affiliate network that connects publishers like Ratepura with financial institutions including banks, credit unions, and digital financial platforms.
When you click an “Open Account,” “Get Rate,” or “Apply Now” link on Ratepura and complete a qualifying action (such as opening an account), the institution pays Ratepura a commission. You pay nothing extra — the commission comes from the institution’s marketing budget, not from you.
What This Means for Our Rankings
Our affiliate relationships do not influence our rankings, recommendations, or editorial content. Period.
Institutions appear in our comparison tables based solely on the quality of their products — rate, fees, CDIC status, and overall account quality. We do not accept payment for higher placement in rankings, sponsored “top pick” labels, or preferred positioning.
If an institution offers a competitive product but no affiliate relationship, it still appears in our comparison tables. If an institution offers a poor product but has an affiliate relationship, it is ranked accordingly — which means low or not featured.

Ratepura’s affiliate relationships are managed through Fintel Connect. We work with financial institutions that meet Ratepura’s inclusion criteria: CDIC-insured (or clearly noted provincial insurer), transparent fee structure, and accessible to most Canadian residents.
